Jesse was deceased at the time of the marriage of his daughter Sarah in 1869. There are no records of his death as it is believed that he was murdered. He was supposed to have been a lay missionary & worked with the aboriginal people in the St. Clair area, between Singleton & Musswellbrook. Family folk lore has it that at that time there was a convict settlement in the same area, Jesse did not return from one of his regular preaching trips & was therefore thought to have been murdered.1359
