. The funeral of the late Mr. Edmund
Sager, secretary of the Board of Health,
took place on Friday aitarnoon at tho
Waverley Cemetery. Tho cortege moved
from the deceased gentleman's lata
residence in Kellelt-strecl, Darliughnrst,
at 3 oclock, and among a representa
tive following of monrners wero in
cluded-. Mr. W. H. Sager (brother of the
deceased), Judge Coffey, Professor Anderson
Stuart, Drs. Ashburlon Thompson, Mac.
Laurin, M.L.C., N. Manning,' Fiaechi,
Philip Mnskett, T. E. Franklin, G. A.
Taylor, Violotto, and A. T. Pat on,
Captain J. Vino Hall, Inspector Potter,
and Messrs. Hamlet (Govcrnmont analyst),
Stanley (chief veterinary inspector), J. F.
Vincent, J. Kidman, A. Kidman, P. J.
Hoidewortb, T. M. Jesse, Ryder and others.
Among tho large number of wreaths sent
were some beauiiful specimens of the
iloriats' work. Tho Rev. E. Lampard, of
St. John's, Darlinghurst, conducted the
burial service, and the fuaeral arrangements
were carried out by Meeste. Wood and Co.

Since, that time./ the. decezsod gentleman,
gre w with the branch of the service to whieh
he bolonged, and .'it grew with him and ad
vanced uuder hie care and zealous attention.
Mr. Sager took the: warmest personal in-,
terest in his work, and he was by all who
knew ..him always regarded as one of tho
most capable and valuable officers in tbe
service. Ha wae'.a man of quiet demeanour
and kindly disposition. -
